Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have no intentions of sanctioning a temporary departure of their midfield sensation Archie Gray.
Tottenham forked out a massive £30 million to sign Archie Gray in the summer from Leeds United. While he is considered a huge prospect, the midfield sensation has only had limited game time under Ange Postecoglou.
Gray has been linked with a loan move away from the North London club with former club Leeds reportedly interested in having him on a temporary basis. But, according to a report from TBR, Spurs have no intentions of sending him out on loan.
The English youth international came up the ranks at Leeds and had an impressive debut campaign with their first team. While he prefers playing in the centre of the park, he showcased his ability to feature in the midfield as well as a full-back.
His consistent performances along with his potential resulted in a big-money move to Tottenham in the summer. Since moving to North London, the 18-year-old has been involved in 11 matches and has been on the pitch for close to 600 minutes.
Gray won’t leave Spurs in January
While Postecoglou has constantly praised the teenage sensation, he hasn’t handed him enough game time. The lack of minutes has resulted in a lot of speculation about his future. Reports suggest he could potentially part ways with Spurs on a temporary basis to secure regular first-team action.
Tottenham were undecided about the future of the former Leeds midfielder but it seems they have finally made a decision. The North London club do not want to send him out on loan despite the lack of game time. Postecoglou considers him an important part of his plans and wants him around.
The Australian manager feels he is learning things at an incredible rate by being a part of the first-team setup. Staying at the London club will help him get fully accustomed to his manager’s demands. Gray also doesn’t seem to have any intentions of pushing for a loan move. More importantly, the two parties haven’t held any talks about a possible exit when the window reopens in January.
