Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have denied making any fresh bids for the services of Aston Villa attacking sensation Jhon Duran.
Jhon Duran seems to have taken his game to another level since the start of the 2024/25 season. His sensational form in front of goal has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been linked with him and reports have suggested that the Gunners have had a bid rejected from Aston Villa.
But, according to a report from TBR, the North London club have not made any fresh bids to sign the Colombian international despite having a long-standing interest in his services.
Duran who made the move to Villa at the start of 2023 on the back of his impressive performances in the Major League Soccer was linked with a move away from Unai Emery’s team throughout the summer transfer window.
Chelsea and West Ham United were two clubs keen on signing the 20-year-old striker. They even knocked on the doors of Villa who wanted in excess of £50 million. Emery’s team were not willing to lower their demands and they did turn down the Blues and the Hammers’ approach for the youngster.
Arsenal deny making any bids for Duran
Arsenal were also keen on his signature and were closely monitoring him last summer. They were looking to bring in a world-class striker to bolster their attack and Duran was quite high on their wishlist.
The Gunners didn’t make any moves for his services back in the day and they haven’t made any yet despite recent reports. While those reports have suggested that Mikel Arteta’s team recently saw a €55million (£45.6million) bid turned down, the North London club have denied making any fresh offers for the Villa striker who is valued at €85million (£70.5million) following an incredible start to the 2024/25 season.
Duran might have only had 580 minutes of first-team action spread over 16 appearances this season but he has still managed to find the back of the net on eight occasions. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs are waiting for the perfect opportunity to push for his signature.
