Tottenham have no intention of sanctioning the departure of their defensive sensation Radu Dragusin despite interest from Serie A clubs.
Radu Dragusin’s future has been a big talking point of late. The Tottenham centre-back has been linked with a move away from the club in January. Juventus, AC Milan, and Napoli are all keen on bringing him back to Italy but according to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Spurs have no intention of selling the Romanian international.
Things might not have worked out for Dragusin at Juventus, but the move to Genoa did help him make quite a name for himself. His consistent performances for the Serie A outfit resulted in a significant amount of interest from across Europe.
While multiple top clubs were keen on his signature, Tottenham managed to beat the competition as they struck a deal worth £26 million to sign the 22-year-old defender at the start of the year. Dragusin is quite highly rated by people at the North London club as well as their manager Ange Postecoglou. However, he has only had limited game time since joining them.
Dragusin has only started five Premier League games for Spurs over the last ten months, as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have been the preferred choice at the back under the Australian boss. The lack of game time has resulted in a lot of chatter and multiple clubs in Italy are looking to bring him back.
Italian clubs keen on Dragusin
Napoli, who were keen on his signature even before he made the move to Tottenham, are once again looking to sign the Romanian international. Antonio Conte wants to reinforce his backline in January, and Dragusin is quite high on their wishlist.
Apart from the Partenopei, AC Milan and Juventus are also keen on his signature. Paulo Fonseca’s team are looking to bring in someone who can strengthen their defence for the short as well as the long run. So, radu Dragusin fits the bill.
Meanwhile, the Old Lady are keen on bringing him back to the club. Back in the day, the Romanian could not get enough chances at Juventus as they already had Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs de Ligt. But, a lot has changed and with Bremer out injured, Dragusin will have the chance to establish himself as a key figure in the first team.
Tottenham won’t sell Radu Dragusin
None of the Serie A clubs is likely to succeed in their pursuit as Tottenham have no plans to weaken their defence. Spurs believe his career has just started to pick up pace in England following a few impressive performances in cup fixtures. Tottenham have very little interest in listening to offers for their young centre-back as a result, the Serie A clubs will have to look elsewhere to reinforce their defence.
