Arsenal view Alexander Isak as top striker target for 2025

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will prioritise the signing of Newcastle United mainstay Alexander Isak in the summer of 2025.

Arsenal were keen on signing a new striker during the 2024 summer transfer window. Despite all their efforts, they could not make it happen. However, their search for a world-class forward continues and according to a report from TEAMtalk, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is at the top of their wishlist.

The Swedish international made a name for himself while playing for Real Sociedad. After proving himself in the Spanish top flight, he made the move to the Magpies in the summer of 2022 and has not looked back since.

Isak has gone from strength to strength with every passing season and has established himself as one of the best forwards in England. While the Swede has not had the best of starts to the 2024/25 season, he is quite highly rated by people at Newcastle and they consider him an integral part of their plans going ahead.

However, his future has become a big talking point of late. While his contract with the Magpies runs until the summer of 2028, the Tyneside club are looking to secure his long-term future by offering him a new lucrative deal. However, Isak is not keen on putting pen to paper.

The Sweidhs striker wants to consistently play in the Champions League, and he feels that might not be possible at Newcastle as he is losing faith in the people who are running the club. The fact that he is not convinced by the direction in which the club is headed suggests he could part ways with the Magpies next summer, and Arsenal are one of the clubs keen on signing him.

Isak is Arsenal’s dream target

The Gunners want to add a world-class number nine to their squad as Mikel Arteta looks to re-establish the North London club as one of the best in the world. They feel an out-and-out goalscorer can help them win major titles.

Arsenal have prepared a comprehensive list of striker targets, and the former Real Sociedad ace is believed to be the first name on that list. He has all the qualities they are looking for, and people at the club consider him their ‘dream target’.

If Isak does end up pushing for a move in 2025, Arsenal jump at the opportunity to bring him to London. While it will still take in excess of £100 million to acquire his services from Newcastle United, the Gunners have shown previously that they are willing to splash the cash on the right player.
