Alisson Becker has no problems continuing at Liverpool despite the imminent arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili next summer.
According to a report from Football Insider, Alisson Becker is happy at Liverpool and he has no intentions of pushing for a move away from the Merseyside club even though Giorgi Mamardashvili will be joining them next summer.
Liverpool had a relatively quiet transfer window during the summer. Apart from signing Juventus star forward Federico Chiesa for a cut-price fee, the only other deal they did was that of Mamardashvili. They struck a deal with Valencia to sign the 24-year-old Georgian international.
While he is already a Liverpool player, he is on a season-long loan at the Spanish club and will make the switch next summer. Mamardashvili is moving to Anfield to become their number one going forward and his signing has put up a lot of question marks on the future of Becker.
The Brazilian international has been their go-to man in goal since joining them back in 2018. He has played a key role in all the success they have had. But, he is already 32 and his recent injury track record has become a cause of concern.
Alisson Becker to leave Liverpool?
He picked up another injury against Crystal Palace earlier this month. It will keep him on the sidelines until the end of November. The veteran shot-stopper has missed 40 matches in the last four seasons and it has become a major concern for the club who could now look to cash in on him.
Becker will still have two years left on his deal next summer and given the amount of interest he attracted during the summer from the Middle East, the Reds can surely raise significant funds from his sale. With Mamardashvili coming in, it won’t really be a surprise for Liverpool to try and offload their current number one.
But, the 32-year-old is happy at Liverpool. He doesn’t want to leave the Merseyside club despite the fact that he will no longer be an automatic pick in goal after the arrival of the Georgian international. He wants to continue at the club and now it seems, the Reds’ chiefs have a massive decision to make.
