Manchester United are keen on getting Casemiro off their books when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the calendar.
Casemiro’s future has been a big talking point since the start of the 2024/25 season. Multiple reports suggested that the Red Devils would look to sell him during the summer, but he ended up staying. But, according to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have finally decided to sell their £350,000-a-week star in January.
The Brazilian international made the move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 after winning everything with Real Madrid. He had an exceptional debut season for the Manchester-based club. But, he was not able to live up to the expectations during his second season in the Premier League.
Things have only gone downhill for the 32-year-old defensive midfielder over the last 18 months. He had a poor 2023/24 season and seems to have gone down the pecking order at the club with Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen, and Kobbie Mainoo preferred ahead of him by Erik ten Hag.
The Brazilian midfielder is on a massive £350,000-a-week salary. He is the highest-paid player at the club by a distance, and the board feels his wage does not reflect his contribution. They want to get him off their books and make some room on their wage bill.
Casemiro could move to the Middle East
The Red Devils are ready to sell in January as they believe it will be in the best interest of all parties involved. There is significant interest in his services from clubs in the Middle East. But, a move to the Saudi Pro League won’t be that straightforward.
Multiple Saudi clubs have held talks with the player’s representatives. He is believed to be looking for a more lucrative offer than the one he is currently on at Manchester United. On top of that, the Red Devils won’t let him leave for free, they want around £25 million for his sale in January.
Saudi Arabian clubs are yet to hold any talks with the Premier League giants and since Casemiro is not one of their top targets, the Red Devils will have to lower their demands if they want to ensure he is no longer on their wage bill when the winter window slams shut.
