Aston Villa and Manchester United are looking to knock on the doors of Atletico Madrid for the services of Reinildo Mandava.
According to a report from Fichajes, Aston Villa and Manchester United are both interested in the services of Reinildo Mandava. With his contract at Atletico Madrid running out both English clubs are looking to sign him for a cut-price fee in the winter transfer window.
Reinildo made a name for himself with his consistent performances at LOSC Lille before moving to Spain at the start of 2022. He became a key figure in Diego Simeone’s first team in no time. While he prefers playing as a left-sided full-back, the Argentine manager has often used him as a third centre-back in a back three.
He remains an integral part of the Spanish club’s first team and has featured in 11 matches this season. But, with his contract running out in the summer of 2025, his future has become a big talking point. Multiple clubs were keen on signing him last summer but Simeone blocked a potential exit as he knew it would be very difficult to sign an ideal replacement.
Premier League clubs keen on signing Reinildo
Reinildo could leave the club for free in less than 10 months time. As a result, the January window will be Atletico’s final chance to cash in on the 30-year-old. Manchester United and Aston Villa are two clubs interested in his services.
Both Premier League outfits are closely monitoring his situation and are willing to offer him a way out at the start of 2025. While the Red Devils do have two quality left-backs in Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, the duo do not have the best injury records.
Erik ten Hag has often been forced to use Diogo Dalot on the left flank and he wants to strengthen the rotation by adding Reinildo to the mix.
As far as Aston Villa are concerned, Unai Emery doesn’t have full confidence in summer signing Ian Maatsen and with Lucas Digne’s future uncertain, the Atletico Madrid full-back could be a great addition to his squad.
Both Villa and United are ready to raid the Madrid-based outfit when the transfer window reopens in January but it will be interesting to see if Atletico are ready to sell or they are willing to risk losing out on him for free next summer.
