Manchester United running rule over Jamie Leweling

Manchester United are among a few clubs monitoring Jamie Leweling following the winger’s impressive start to the season.

According to Sudwest, Manchester United is one of the teams keeping close tabs on Jamie Leweling ahead of future windows. The newly called-up German winger has been impressive in the early stages of the season with Stuttgart, and the Red Devils are likely to continue observing the player.

Manchester United are going in a different direction under the new management of INEOS. The Sir Jim Ratcliffe-led unit has put in place some key policies regarding transfers and the use of the club’s finances.

The Red Devils had a fairly busy summer, with at least four different players arriving. Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, and Joshua Zirkzee all arrived on decent money, with everyone except the Moroccan fullback under the age of 25. This is the sort of restriction INEOS wants to place on their transfer policy, as they are keen to build for the future.

Moving forward, they are keen to stick to such rules, and their future targets will be young players rather than experienced and established stars. With that, they are now linked with 23-year-old German winger Jamie Leweling, who has had an impressive start to the season with Stuttgart.

Jamie Leweling was linked with a move to West Ham in the summer before they prioritised other targets. The player might be on unknown quantity at that point, but not anymore, following his good start to the season with Stuttgart. He was subsequently called up to the German squad for the upcoming international fixtures, but that may have been a bit opportunistic following Jamial Musiala’s withdrawal through injury.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking at Leweling, having reportedly had scouts present during Stuttgart’s 5-1 win over Borussia Dortmund. While the 23-year-old did not get on the scoresheet, he was still an influential player on the wings, which may have interested the Red Devils.

Manchester United have a few problems in the wide areas as some of their current stars like Amad Diallo and Antony not perfoming to the expected levels. Alejandro Garnacho has also had a slow start to the campaign, apart from his top display against lower league side Barnsley. Hence, the need for a new winger might be on the cards, as an approach for Leweling could emerge in future windows.
