West Ham United considering Alexander Sorloth swoop

Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United are considering making a move for Atletico Madrid summer signing Alexander Sorloth.

Alexander Sorloth could part ways with Atletico Madrid just six months after joining them as he is not enjoying life under Diego Simeone. He has been linked with a move away from the Madrid-based club and according to a report from Fichajes, West Ham United are considering signing the former Villarreal star.

Sorloth joined the Yellow Submarine in the summer of 2023 and he had a phenomenal debut season for the Spanish outfit. The 28-year-old left-footed striker bagged 23 goals in his 34 league outings and he even had six assists to his name.

On the back of his heroics, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid added him to their squad ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season. He was expected to take the next step in his career by joining one of the Spanish giants. But the move hasn’t really gone according to plan for him.

He has featured in 11 matches for Atletico Madrid and only has three goal contributions to his name. Sorloth has found it difficult to get going in Simeone’s team. He has not been able to adjust to their style of play which is based on a strong defensive base and quick transitions.

With the Norwegian international not firing on all cylinders, he has been forced to start the majority of their matches on the bench. The 28-year-old is starting to regret his decision to move to Atletico Madrid, and reports have linked him with a move away from the club and La Liga on the whole.

West Ham United are interested in Sorloth

People close to Sorloth are concerned about his career getting derailed, and they have started looking for a way out. West Ham United have emerged as a potential destination for the left-footed striker. The Hammers were interested in back in the summer as well.

Julen Lopetegui is believed to be a fan of the former Villarreal striker and with his team struggling in the final third, the Spanish manager feels Sorloth could solve quite a few of their problems.

West Ham are open to a loan move as well as a permanent transfer and will most likely knock on the Spanish giants’ door when the window reopens in January. Meanwhile, the player will consider his options and also try to get things back on track at Atletico Madrid if possible.
