Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are all set to initiate contract renewal talks with their midfield mainstay Thomas Partey.
According to a report from TBR, Arsenal are keen on extending Thomas Partey’s stay at the club and they are all set to open contract renewal talks with the Ghanaian international. While there has been a lot of talk about his future, both parties seem to be on the same page regarding a new deal.
Partey arrived at the North London club from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £45 million back in 2020. He has been an integral part of their first team over the years. The 31-year-old did struggle to get going in the 2023/24 season as he was restricted to just nine top-flight appearances because of injuries.
His fitness was a major concern and reports did link him with a move away from the club. There was a significant amount of interest in his services from the Middle East. Clubs in the Saudi Pro League wanted to prise him away but the Gunners as well as Partey turned down the opportunity.
He has now managed to revive himself at Arsenal. The former Atletico star has featured in eight matches and has even bagged a goal. The Gunners have kept five clean sheets in those games. His physical prowess along with his ball-winning abilities make him an integral part of Arteta’s plans and he wants him around for a few more years.
Arsenal to offer Partey a new two-year deal
With his contract running out at the end of the season, there has been a lot of talk about his future. But, the report suggests Arsenal are all set to reward him with a new deal following his impressive start to the 2024/25 season. The North London club are ready to open contract renewal talks with his camp.
As per the report, they are willing to offer him a two-year deal that would keep him around until he is 33. Partey’s current priority is to continue at Arsenal despite the interest in his services from the Middle East. With the player as well as the club on the same page regarding his future, renewal talks are expected to be quite straightforward.
