Liverpool have contacted former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot regarding a move to Anfield in the coming days.
Adrien Rabiot’s future has been the talk of the town throughout the summer. The French international parted ways with Juventus following the expiry of his contract and has been on the lookout for an ideal destination ever since. According to a report from Paisley Gates, the Reds are in talks with Rabiot regarding a move to Anfield.
Rabiot made a name for himself at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Juventus in the summer of 2019 as a free agent. While the initial years were quite difficult for him at the Turin-based club, he managed to establish himself in their first team and did take his game to another level.
Free agent Rabiot looking for a new club
He did pen down a new one-year deal with the Old Lady last summer but he decided against it this time out and left the club upon the expiry of his €7.5 million a year deal. Rabiot has been a free agent since the start of July and he has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world.
Atletico Madrid have been linked with the French midfielder of late but it seems the player is keen on making a move to the Premier League where Liverpool seem quite interested in his services. The Reds were one of the most inactive English teams in the recently concluded transfer window.
They came to life at the very end of the window and secured the services of Federico Chiesa from Juventus. They are now looking to sign his former teammate Rabiot. The Reds wanted a new defensive midfielder and Martin Zubimendi was their top target.
Liverpool could bolster their midfield with Rabiot
While they couldn’t land the Real Sociedad star, they could look to bring in Rabiot to further strengthen their midfield for the long season up ahead. He might not be an ideal fit for the number six role but the French international can play in a double pivot, a touch further up the pitch as well as full-back when needed.
With the 29-year-old available for free, Liverpool are making moves to convince him. They have been in talks with the player who is looking for a minimum of €10 million per season and a three-year contract which would work out to around £25.3 million as a package. The Merseyside club can surely afford to sign him, as a result, it will be interesting to see if they do.
