Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah suggests the 2024/25 season could be his last season for the Merseyside club.
According to Sky Sports via Football Insider, Mohamed Salah could end up parting ways with Liverpool after the end of the 2024/25 season. After the Reds’ sensational 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, the Egyptian international suggested that nobody from the Merseyside club has yet spoken to him about a new deal.
Things might not have worked out at Chelsea for Salah but the move to Liverpool from Fiorentina in the summer of 2017 has done wonders for him. He has been an undisputed starter for them over the years and has featured in over 350 matches.
The 32-year-old has 214 goals and 92 assists to his name and has helped the Merseyside club win all major titles. He has had an exceptional start to the new season having contributed towards six goals (3 goals, 3 assists) in his three league outings.
Salah to leave Liverpool
While the Egypt international is still going strong, his contract runs out in less than 12 months and his future at the club has become a big talking point. Following Liverpool’s massive 3-0 win over Manchester United, Salah spoke to the media and he suggested that this could be his last season at the club and the fact that it was his final visit to his favourite away ground the Old Trafford.
He has scored at “The Theatre of Dreams” in each of his last seven visits. This time around he had a goal and two assists to his name. While speaking on Sky Sports, Salah made it clear that no one from the club has yet approached him regarding a new deal.
Will Salah get the new deal he wants?
The Reds rejected a massive £150 million offer from Al-Ittihad for the 32-year-old in the summer of 2023 which suggests they want him around for a few more years but a new deal doesn’t seem to be on the cards. While Salah has quite clearly suggested that this could be his last season at Anfield, it could also be a strategy on his part to ensure he gets the desired deal from Liverpool.
It is believed that he wants to continue at the club beyond the summer. Salah hopes to Smash all club and Premier League records and establish himself as one of the greatest ever to play for Liverpool. However, he doesn’t want to take a pay cut or a less valuable contract despite entering his mid-30s. He is earning a club-record £350,000-a-week and it won’t be easy for the Reds to hand him a similar deal at this stage of his career.
