Fulham reportedly failed in their pursuit to convince Omar Marmoush late in the summer window, as the forward chose to stay put.
According to Bild, Fulham failed with a move to sign Omar Marmoush late in the window as the forward chose to stay at Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old forward is not opposed to coming to England but has sights on more illustrious clubs, something the Cottagers do not represent.
Omar Marmoush rejected Fulham’s approach
Marco Silva was trying until the very end of the summer transfer window to bring in a new forward, as he felt the squad was short of one or two names in that area. The departures of Boddy Decordova-Reid and Willian in the close season had reduced their alternatives in the front line.
Fulham entered talks with Arsenal for Reiss Nelson, although, from their other pursuits, the 24-year-old was likely their last resort. The Cottagers have announced the loan signing of the Gunners star, although they also considered other names.
Lyon star Ernest Nuamah was a target, but the move fell through in the last hours, and only after that they began pursuing Nelson. The Cottagers also wanted Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush. However, the 25-year-old chose to stay where he was while reporting an approach from the Cottagers.
Marmoush can play in all three of those front-line positions and got 23 goals and assists for Frankfurt last season. He has also begun the current campaign in good form, and as a result, Fulham and even Nottingham Forest were keen, with the Bundesliga forward reportedly rejecting those overtures.
Marmoush wants a big Premier League switch
An interest coming in from a Premier League side would entice any player in the other leagues. Marmoush would have considered Fulham or Nottingham Forest for a brief period. But he chose to stay put at Frankfurt in wait for future offers from more illustrious English clubs.
Fulham are not in that category, and Forest certainly are far off from breaking into that top order. The 25-year-old still has a loing future, and another stellar season at Frankfurt could open the doors next season for a big switch to the Premier League to one of the giants.
