Fulham rule out Miguel Almiron move

Marco Silva’s Fulham have decided against making a late move for the services of Newcastle United attacker Miguel Almiron.

Miguel Almiron’s future has been uncertain since the start of the transfer window. The Paraguayan international has been linked with a move away from the club and Fulham recently emerged as a potential destination. But, according to Craig Hope, the Cottagers won’t be signing the Newcastle United attacker on deadline day.

Almiron joined the Magpies back in the winter of 2019 from Major League Soccer outfit Atlanta United. He has since gone from strength to strength and has been a great servant for Newcastle over the years. The 30-year-old winger has featured in over 200 matches for the Tyneside club and has contributed towards 42 goals (30 goals, 12 assists).

While he still has two years left on his deal, Almiron is no longer an important part of Eddie Howe’s plans. The club is ready to move on from the Paraguayan international and have informed him that he is free to find a new club.

Fulham keen on signing Almiron? Move ruled out

Newcastle United are looking for £30 million to part ways with the former Atlanta United winger in the ongoing transfer window. Fulham recently emerged as a potential destination for the 30-year-old. The Cottagers need more firepower on the flanks after parting ways with Willian and Bobby Decordova-Reid earlier in the summer.

While Marco Silva’s team have been linked with quite a few forwards, they have not signed one yet. With the club in desperate need of attacking reinforcement, multiple reports have linked them with a surprise late move for Almiron.

The Newcastle United attacker could be a great addition to the Fulham squad and it would hardly take him any time to settle in given the amount of experience he has playing in the Premier League. But, Hope has suggested that the Cottagers won’t be signing him in this window.

While they surely need more depth on the flanks, Almiron is not the player they are willing to go after, and his £30 million asking price might have played a part in it. The Daily Mail correspondent even suggested that Newcastle United are not in the best of shapes heading into the final hours of the window. Not only have they failed to sign their top targets like Marc Guehi, the Magpies have not been able to offload players who are surplus to requirements.
