Arsenal are reportedly seeking a significant sell-on clause in any deal involving the sale of academy graduate Eddie Nketiah.
Eddie Nketiah’s future has been up in the air since the start of the transfer window. He has been linked with quite a few clubs, but nothing concrete has happened yet. Arsenal are ready to part ways with their academy graduate. But according to a report from Give Me Sport, the Gunners want a sell-on clause in any deal involving his sale.
Nketiah made the move from Chelsea to Arsenal in the summer of 2015. While he was promoted to the senior team at the start of 2019, the 25-year-old burst onto the first-team scene back in 2017, and he had an exceptional debut against Norwich City having found the back of the net twice.
While he has been a great backup option for Mikel Arteta over the years, his game time has taken a significant hit in recent seasons. In the 2023/24 campaign, Eddie Nketiah was involved in 37 matches but racked up less than 1,400 minutes of first-team action.
Eddie Nketiah pushing for a move away from Arsenal
Nketiah still has three years left on his deal at the North London club. But he is keen on a move away in search of regular first-team action. The English striker was close to joining French giants Marseille. He had given the green light to the move, but both clubs couldn’t reach a common ground.
Once the move to the Ligue 1 club collapsed, Nottingham Forest entered the race for his services, and they have been pushing hard ever since. The Tricky Trees want a new striker and they feel the 25-year-old could be a great addition to their squad given the amount of experience he has of playing in the English top flight.
Reports have suggested that Forest are closing in on a deal with the Gunners for Eddie Nketiah. They seem ready to pay around £30 million for his services. While Arsenal are ready to sanction his departure, they demand a significant sell-on clause in any deal. Arteta’s team want to ensure they can make more profit from him in the future.
Nketiah to Nottingham Forest collapses
Nottingham Forest were closing in on the signature of Eddie Nketiah. However, a report from The Athletic suggests the move has broken down. The Tricky Trees have not been able to reach an agreement with the Arsenal striker regarding a move this summer.
While a deal worth up to £30 million was in place, the Hale End graduate has decided against joining Nottingham Forest. He is still expected to depart from the Emirates, but Arsenal’s demand of a significant sell-on clause will make things interesting.
