Manchester United are reportedly prepared to let Hannibal Mejbri leave the club on a permanent transfer this summer.
A report from Football Insider has claimed that Manchester United are not prepared to send 21-year-old academy graduate Hannibal Mejbri out on loan, and they will only sell him permanently in the summer transfer window.
The Tunisian international has been linked with Scottish clubs Rangers and Celtic. It will be interesting to see if any of the two clubs are prepared to secure Mejbri’s services permanently this summer. The highly-rated attacking midfielder does not have a future at Manchester United. So, the Red Devils are looking to sell him and invest the proceeds from his departure into the playing squad.
Manchester United have been quite active in the market this summer, and they are looking to build a formidable side capable of matching up to Manchester City and Arsenal. Hannibal Mejbri is not good enough to make his mark in the Manchester United first team. So, it makes sense for the Red Devils to cash on him and bring in someone who can help them improve immediately.
Mejbri needs to secure regular playing time
The 21-year-old needs to play regularly to continue his development and fulfil his tremendous potential as well. Staying at Old Trafford is unlikely to benefit him. So, he should to join a club where he will get first team exposure. There is no doubt that he is a talented player, but he needs to join a club where he will get regular opportunities.
He was on loan at Spanish club Sevilla last season. But the move was quite underwhelming. It will be interesting to see where he ends up this summer. Hannibal Mejbri is a prodigious talent with a bright future, and he could be a quality long-term investment for most clubs.
Perhaps a move to Scotland would be ideal for him right now. The player might look at it as a step down, but Celtic and Rangers have proven track record when it comes to nurturing young players, and they could help him develop further in the coming seasons.
