Hansi Flick’s Barcelona will have to fork out €58 million to acquire the services of Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona want to further reinforce their attack before the start of next season, and Luis Diaz is one of the names on their wishlist. While the 27-year-old is an integral part of Liverpool’s first team, the Reds are ready to part ways with him for €58 million.
After making a name for himself at FC Porto, Diaz made the move to Liverpool in the winter of 2022 and has only gone from strength to strength since. The Colombian international has established himself as a mainstay in the team, and he was the preferred choice for them on the left flank last season.
The 27-year-old finished with 13 goals and five assists in his 51 outings. While he still has three years left on his deal, there is interest in his services from Barcelona. Diaz is a fan of the Blaugrana and dreams of playing for them. He could look to pounce on any opportunity to join them.
The Catalan giants have been working hard to bring Nico Williams to the club. They have made significant progress in their pursuit and were closing in on his signature. Barcelona were confident about convincing the Athletic Club star to join them. But, they have suffered a blow as Williams has just been handed the number 10 jersey at his childhood club, and he could end up staying.
Barcelona want Diaz, Liverpool name asking price
Barcelona have started looking at alternatives, and Diaz’s name is quite high on their wishlist. They consider him to be an ideal fit for their club. Despite the South American being an integral part of their first team, Liverpool seem ready to negotiate his departure, and they want €58 million for the Colombian winger’s services.
Since the Reds’ asking price is quite close to Williams’s release clause, he does seem to be an exciting alternative. The Catalan giants can surely afford to sign him. But it will be interesting to see if they do make a move. Meanwhile, Liverpool could use the funds raised from the transfer of Diaz to sign Anthony Gordon.
