West Ham United reach agreement to sign Jean-Clair Todibo, hijack Juventus move

West Ham United have successfully hijacked Juventus’s deal for OGC Nice defensive sensation Jean-Clair Todibo.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have struck a deal with OGC Nice for the services of Jean-Clair Todibo. The French centre-back was all set to join Juventus. But the Hammers have hijacked the deal, and he is on his way to London to undergo his medical as a new West Ham player.

Things might not have worked out for Jean-Clair Todibo at Barcelona. But returning to France by joining OGC Nice in the summer of 2021 gave him an opportunity to revive himself, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. He has been putting him consistent performances for Nice, and his work has not gone unnoticed.

Todibo’s future has been the talk of the town since the start of the transfer window. He was very close to a move to sister club Manchester United. But, unfortunately, the move did not go through because a UEFA rule stood in their way.

Once his move to Old Trafford fell off, other clubs started getting into the picture. Juventus are one of the clubs keen on signing the 24-year-old as they look to reinforce their backline. While the Old Lady have been in talks with Nice regarding a potential move for a long time, they haven’t been able to strike a deal.

West Ham hijack deal for Todibo

Despite all the attempts from the Italian giants, it seems West Ham have hijacked their deal for Todibo. Their director Tim Steidten was involved in lengthy talks with the French central defender, and he seems to have convinced him about a move to the London club.

Jean-Clair Todibo, his agent, and Steidten are on their way to London as they look to complete the deal today. The deal is worth €40 million in total. The former Barcelona centre-back will be joining them on an initial loan deal. But the Hammers have a mandatory purchase clause. Meanwhile, Nice have secured a decent percentage on his future sale.

The 24-year-old French international will undergo his medical as a new West Ham player today. While the Hammers had already bolstered their defence by signing Max Kilman, they were looking for an ideal partner for the ex-Wolves skipper, and they have found just the right fit in Todibo.
