Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid are willing to fork out €50 million to sign Tottenham defensive mainstay Cristian Romero.
According to a report from Doble Amarilla, Real Madrid are keen on acquiring the services of Tottenham star Cristian Romero and they are all set to make their interest formal with a €50 million offer. While Los Blancos are looking to push hard for his signature, negotiations with Spurs are not going to be easy.
Romero made a name for himself at Atalanta before joining the North London club in 2021. While it was an initial loan move, it was made permanent in the following summer. The 26-year-old has gone from strength to strength since moving to the Premier League.
Real Madrid keen on Cristian Romero
Romero has been a go-to man for Spurs at the back, and his performances have not gone unnoticed. The Argentine World Cup winner is on Real Madrid’s radar. Los Blancos are always on the lookout for players who can further strengthen their squad and since they lack depth in central defence, Romero is quite high on their wishlist.
Nacho Fernandez’s departure has left them a bit light at the back and given the number of injuries they suffered last time out, they do need reinforcement at the back. After missing out on Leny Yoro, who has joined Manchester United, Real Madrid now seem keen on stepping up their interest in the Tottenham mainstay.
With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger both over 30, the team in white needs to find an ideal defensive partner for Eder Militao and Romero certainly fits the bill. Real Madrid had recently requested information from Tottenham about the conditions for a transfer and are now all set to make their interest formal. Real Madrid will make an offer worth €50 million.
Tottenham won’t sell Romero
While the Spanish giants are all set to take the first step towards signing Romero, they are unlikely to succeed in their pursuit as Spurs have declared that he is non-transferable until December 2025.
The North London club consider him one of their pillars for the new project under Ange Postecoglou and are not willing to sanction his departure. But, with Real Madrid involved, it surely is one to keep an eye on.
