Galatasaray are unlikely to succeed in their pursuit of Manchester United academy graduate Scott McTominay amidst interest from Fulham.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Scott McTominay is unlikely to join Galatasaray this summer. While the Scottish international is expected to be on the move and Turkish giants are pushing hard for his services, they might not succeed in signing the Fulham midfield target.
McTominay has been a part of the Manchester United setup since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team back in 2017. While he has been an important member of their squad over the years, he doesn’t seem to have a long-term future at Old Trafford.
Last season, the Scottish midfielder was involved in over 40 matches and he even contributed towards 13 goals. Even though his versatility was of great use to Erik ten Hag, the Dutch manager doesn’t consider him to be a part of their plans moving ahead. With only 12 months left on his current deal, United want to cash in on the 27-year-old.
Galatasaray unlikely to sign McTominay
With the Red Devils ready to listen to the offer, Galatasaray have been working on a deal to sign the United utility man. The Turkish giants want to further bolster their squad ahead of next season and they see this as a great opportunity.
They have been in talks to sign him for a while now and if reports are to be believed, Ten Hag’s team have already turned down an offer from Galatasaray. While the Turkish club have been working hard to sign McTominay, the transfer is looking more and more unlikely.
However, they haven’t given up yet and have been involved in more talks with United in the last few days. They have reportedly tabled an improved offer for his services but it still might not be good enough as the Red Devils are holding out on £30 million even though he only has a year left on his deal.
Meanwhile, the Turkish giants have been informed that Fulham are also pushing hard for his signature. With Joao Palhinha no longer at the club, the Cottagers want reinforcement and they feel the United academy graduate could help their cause. While they have returned with a revised offer for his signature after failing with their initial bid, people at Galatasaray feel he won’t be joining the London club.
