Manchester United have been linked with a move for 26-year-old Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui this summer.
According to an update by reputed French journalist Santi Aouna, Bayern Munich have now authorised the 26-year-old’s move to Manchester United. Noussair Mazraoui is set to undergo a medical with Manchester United next week.
The right-back will join up with the Red Devils soon and he will look to establish himself as a key player for them. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a move away from Manchester United and Mazraoui will be his replacement.
He has proven himself to be a capable performer for club and country in recent years. There is no doubt that he has the physicality and technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if he can hold down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford.
Manchester United need quality defenders
Manchester United have Diogo Dalot at their disposal as well and Mazraoui will have to compete with the Portuguese international for the starting spot next season. Meanwhile, the Red Devils needed to tighten up at the back this summer.
They conceded 58 goals in the league last season and they cannot cope to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal with a defence like that.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old has proven himself in the Bundesliga and he helped Bayern Munich win the league title last season. He will look to test himself in the Premier League now.
Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the opportunity to play for them can be hard to turn down. It remains to be seen whether the 26-year-old can hit the ground running and improve Manchester United defensively.
His ability going forward will be an added bonus for the Red Devils.
Wan-Bissaka has often been criticised for his lack of end product going forward and Mazraoui will be an upgrade in that regard. Meanwhile, Manchester United are keen on signing Mazraoui’s teammate Matthijs De Ligt as well. It will be interesting to see if they can get a deal done for the Dutch international defender.
