Fulham make improved bid to sign Scott McTominay

Marco Silva’s Fulham table an offer for the services of Manchester United academy graduate Scott McTominay.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fulham want to add Scott McTominay to their squad before the start of next season and they have submitted an improved offer for the services of the Manchester United midfield star.

McTominay has been a part of the Manchester United setup since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team back in 2017. While he has done wonders for them over the years, the 27-year-old midfielder doesn’t have a prominent role under Erik ten Hag.

While he was involved in 43 matches last season and was on the pitch for over 2,700 minutes, the majority of his appearance came because of injuries to key players and his red-hot form in front of goal as he finished with 10 goals and three assists.

Scott McTominay to leave United?

Despite having done well last time out, the Scottish international doesn’t seem to have a long-term future at Old Trafford. With his contract running out in 12 months, the Red Devils are ready to cash in on his signature. McTominay would love to continue at his childhood club but he might not have too much of a say as staying at United could see him get only a handful of minutes during the 2024/25 season.

Ten Hag’s team want around £30 million to part ways with their academy graduate who can feature anywhere on the pitch. Fulham have been in talks with Manchester United for the services of McTominay. The Cottagers want to reinforce their midfield following the departure of João Palhinha and consider the United graduate to be an ideal replacement.

Fulham to fail with improved offer

Not only can he help them cope with the Portuguese international’s absence, but he can also cover up for other positions when needed. The Cottagers had earlier tabled a bid for his services but it was turned down by the Red Devils.

The team from London have now returned with an improved offer worth in excess of £20 million. But, even that won’t be enough to prise him away from United, Fulham seem to face another disappointment and it will be interesting to see if they retain their interest with less than a month to go in the transfer window. With Galatasaray also pushing for his signature, the Cottagers will surely find it difficult.
