Nottingham Forest are interested in acquiring the services of Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale before the end of the transfer window.
According to a report from The Sun, Nottingham Forest are looking to reinforce their squad before the end of the window. They want to bring in a new shot-stopper and Nuno Espirito Santo is keen on having Aaron Ramsdale as his first choice for next season. While the Tricky Trees can’t afford to sign him permanently, they are eyeing a loan move and seem willing to play the waiting game.
Ramsdale to leave Arsenal?
Ramsdale was the undisputed number one at Arsenal before the start of the 2023/24 season. But, the arrival of David Raya from Brentford changed things up. While he was brought in to challenge the English goalkeeper for a place in the starting XI, Raya has been the go-to man since joining the club.
The 26-year-old only made a handful of appearances last season and with Raya’s stay now permanent, Ramsdale is keen on making a move away in search of regular first-team action. Given the kind of performances the English goalkeeper has produced during his time at Arsenal, there is a significant amount of interest in him.
But, there haven’t been any suitable bids for him so far. No interested club seems willing to meet the asking price of around £50 million. While Nottingham are keen on his signature, they cannot meet the North London club’s demands.
Nottingham eye a loan move for Rasmdale
Their Portuguese manager is desperate to have a new number-one ahead of next season. He feels Ramsdale could do wonders for them given his track record for Mikel Arteta’s team. While they have other targets as well, the Tricky Trees seem quite focused on bringing the Arsenal shot-stopper to the club.
People at the City Ground are willing to play the waiting game. They feel Arsenal will eventually look to send him out on loan if they do not have a buyer for him this summer. If they do open the doors for him to leave on loan late on in the window, Nottingham want to pounce on any such opportunity. To ensure they do not miss out on him, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are considering paying all of his wages along with a hefty bonus.
