Tottenham, West Ham United ready to offer £50 million to sign Ivan Toney

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 28-year-old English striker Ivan Toney from Brentford.

According to Football Transfers, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are willing to offer around £50 million to sign the 28-year-old Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the summer transfer window.

Toney has been linked with a move away from Brentford, and Manchester United have been keen on securing his signature as well. However, the Red Devils have now cooled their interest in the Englishman, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham and West Ham can get the deal done.

The 28-year-old is certainly one of the best strikers in the country, and he could improve Tottenham and West Ham United immensely. Tottenham have done reasonably well with Son Heung-min and Richarlison as their strikers this season. But they have missed a reliable goalscorer since the departure of Harry Kane. Toney would be a quality acquisition for them.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince the player to join them. They could miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification for the next season, which could be a problem when it comes to attracting top players.

Toney will want a big move

Toney will want to join a club where he can compete in Europe and push for major trophies. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. If Tottenham can get a deal done to sign the 28-year-old, it would be a major coup for them. The Brentford striker is more than just a goalscorer, and he will add creativity and hold-up play to the side as well.

At Tottenham, he will get more service in the final third, and Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system could get the best out of him. Similarly, West Ham United are in desperate need of a quality striker and have set their sights on Toney. Michail Antonio is well past his peak, and Danny Ings has had his fair share of injury problems.

The former Liverpool striker is quite unreliable in terms of availability. So, West Ham need to invest in a more reliable goal scorer. They are expected to bring in a new manager as well. Julen Lopetegui is expected to take over in the summer, and it will be interesting to see if the Spaniard can convince Toney to join West Ham.

£50 million is a substantial amount of money, and it is fair to assume that Brentford will sanction his departure if the offer is presented in the coming weeks. It remains to be seen where Toney ends up. The 28-year-old former Manchester United target is at the peak of his powers, and he could transform both teams in the final third.
