Ange Postecoglou pushing Tottenham to sign Jarrad Branthwaite

Ange Postecoglou wants Tottenham Hotspur to acquire the services of 21-year-old Everton defensive star Jarrad Branthwaite.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of Jarrad Branthwaite as they look to further bolster their defence ahead of next season. The 21-year-old has been a consistent performer for Everton, and those performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs.

Branthwaite had an impressive loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last season, and he seems to have carried on in similar fashion this term as well. The 21-year-old has broken into the Everton first-team and has managed to establish himself as a mainstay in the senior side.

He has featured in 35 matches in all competitions for the Merseyside club and has racked up over 3,100 minutes. The left-footed centre-back’s exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed. So, there is a lot of interest in him, and he could be on the move in the summer.

Manchester United interested in Branthwaite

Everton are currently battling for survival, and if they fail to stay up, his departure will be a certainty. Even if they do manage to stay in the Premier League, clubs will knock on the Liverpool-based club’s door for his signatures.

Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on his signatures. The Red Devils have had quite a few problems at the back, and they are looking to resolve in by signing a young centre-back in the summer.

Branthwaite is quite high on their wishlist, but the minimum £70 million asking price is a major hurdle for them. The new part-owners do not want to overspend on players and will be hesitant to pay that big a fee for a 21-year-old.

Ange Postecoglou wants Jarrad Branthwaite at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on his signatures. The North London club have already signed multiple defenders since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. But the Australian manager is still looking for another centre-back.

He wants a strong base at the back and feels Everton star Branthwaite could be a great addition to their ranks for the short as well as the long term. Postecoglou has suggested the club’s board to push for the 21-year-old’s signatures. As a result, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham end up making a move for the Manchester United target.
