West Ham United are keen on acquiring the services of the 24-year-old Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis.
According to a report by Calciomercato, West Ham United want to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. They are keen on signing a new number nine and have their eyes set on Fotis Ioannidis who has been in sensational form in the ongoing season.
Ioannidis’ rise at Panathinaikos
Ioannidis joined Panathinaikos in the summer of 2020 and has gone from strength to strength since. He has grown in stature over the years and has featured in 137 matches for the Greek club. The 24-year-old has contributed towards 50 goals.
He seems to have taken his game to the next level in the ongoing season. He has played 38 in all competitions this term and has contributed towards 28 goals. Ioannidis has found the back of the net on 21 occasions and his impressive run has put him on the radar of multiple top clubs.
While his current deal runs until the summer of 2027, he is expected to be on the move in the upcoming window. His contract at the Greek club was running out in the summer of 2023 and he could have left as a free agent. But, he decided to extend his stay as he was faithful to his club and didn’t want to leave for nothing.
West Ham United keen on Ioannidis’ signatures
While penning down the new deal, they did decide to let him go in the next summer if the right offer arrives. Panathinaikos value the 24-year-old at €15 million which could be a bargain price for clubs in England and West Ham United are the one keen on his signatures.
The Hammers are looking to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. Michail Antonio is already 34 and his future at the club is uncertain with his contract running out at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Danny Ings is 31 and his deal only runs until 2025, as a result, they do need to freshen things up in attack and are looking to bring in the Greek international who has been in sensational form for both club and country.
Ioannidis has shown great promise and he will only get better with time. He can help the Hammer in the short as well as the long run.
