Newcastle United have reportedly shown an interest in Juventus star Federico Chiesa and are prepared to offer more than €60 million to acquire his services.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, a host of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, are interested in signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa in 2024.
The Magpies have had a difficult season overall, failing to impress in the Premier League and the Champions League, and injuries have hampered their progress. It is evident that many new signings will be required once the summer transfer market opens, and recent speculations suggest that owners PIF may already be trying to bring in reinforcements.
In what was one of the more speculative transfer links from last summer, once again there are growing reports suggesting Newcastle United are keen on Juventus wide-man Federico Chiesa, who could possibly want a new challenge once the current campaign reaches its conclusion.
The 26-year-old Italian international is in his second season with the Serie A giants but will be out of contract in the summer of 2025.
While the Italian club hope to tie Chiesa down to a new long-term deal, there is speculation that they could be forced to sell him to recoup vital funds after being hit hard by not having any Champions League football this season.
Amid that speculation, Newcastle have shown an interest in having Chiesa join fellow Italian international Sandro Tonali at St James’ Park next season.
Newcastle to make Federico Chiesa their priority summer target
Fichajes reported that the Magpies have already lined up a mega-money €60 million offer to prize the pacey winger out of his deal at Juventus this summer.
He has been a crucial player for his club and Italy in recent years, helping his country win the European Championships in 2021.
A cruciate ligament tear in January 2022 really slowed down the 26-year-old’s development, though. He has struggled with smaller injuries since then, so the Toon medical department will have to do their share of due diligence on the recurring injury theme.
When fit and firing, there are very few footballers better than Chiesa on show in world football. At 26 years of age, there could be so much more to come from him, with his peak years potentially ahead of him.
It’s doubtful whether Newcastle will realistically be able to facilitate that type of money at present due to financial fair play pressures, but with out-of-form winger Miguel Almiron linked with a Saudi Pro League move, there might be some room to manoeuvre.
