RB Leipzig’s 28-year-old forward Timo Werner wants to continue at Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur next season.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Timo Werner is enjoying his time at Tottenham Hotspur and the 28-year-old German international wants to continue at the North London club next season. His loan move to Spurs includes a buy option that could result in a permanent switch in the summer.

Werner made a name for himself at RB Leipzig before securing a big-money move to Chelsea back in 2020. While he did win the Champions League with the Blues, his move to the London club didn’t really go according to plan.

After two years of struggle in the Premier League, he returned to Leipzig in the summer of 2022. He contributed 22 goals in his very first season back in Germany. Unfortunately, things took a turn in the 2023/24 season as he went down the pecking order and only got limited opportunities in the first half of the season.

Spurs were looking to bolster their attack in the winter transfer window and they managed to strike a deal with Leipzig to bring the 28-year-old back to the Premier League. Since returning to the English top flight, he has featured in eight league games and has contributed towards four goals.

Werner is keen on continuing at Tottenham

While the minutes have still been limited, he has had a promising start to life at the North London club. The player is quite happy with his situation and wants to continue at Tottenham for years to come.

Spurs managed to include a buy option in his loan move. Now, they have an option to make the move permanent for around €17 million. But, the clause needs to be triggered before the start of the EUROs.

While Tottenham haven’t made a decision regarding the future of the 28-year-old, he is keen on continuing at the club. If Ange Postecoglou’s men decide against signing him, he will return to his parent club after the end of the season.

But, he is unlikely to have a future at the German club and will push for a move elsewhere. Werner will prefer to return to England as per reports.
