Tottenham leading the race for Jaden Philogene

Tottenham Hotspur are front-runners for the signatures of the 22-year-old Hull City left winger Jaden Philogene.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Jaden Philogene in their ranks. The 22-year-old has been in sensational form in the EFL Championship and his performances have attracted the attention of the north London club.

Philogene’s doing wonders for Hull City

After coming up the ranks at Aston Villa, Philogene made the move to Hull City last summer in a deal worth £5 million. He has been on fire since making the move to the English second-tier club. The 22-year-old has featured in 20 matches and has contributed towards 14 goals.

The left winger has found the back of the net on eight occasions and has even bagged six assists. Hull City are pushing for promotion to the English top-flight and he has been integral to their run so far.

His impressive performances have attracted interest from across Europe and Spurs are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. Tottenham had an impressive star under Ange Postecoglou but lack depth has caused problems.

Spurs’ pursuit of a new winger

They will look to address key issues in the summer window and signing a new winger will be one of their priorities. They want to have more options on the flanks as it will allow them to start Son Heung-min and Richarlison in a more central role when needed.

Philogene will be a perfect fit for the Australian boss’ attacking style of play. He will make them more threatening going forward. They have been regularly scouting the England youth international and are looking to win the race for his signatures.

While Spurs are keen on his signatures, Aston Villa have a buy-back clause which can help them re-sign the 22-year-old in the summer. But, that £15 million clause will only be active if Hull gets promoted to the Premier League.

But, if there are offers from elsewhere for his services, Villa will have to match the highest bidder. As a result, signing him back won’t be easy for Unai Emery’s team. Spurs are leading the race for him at this stage and they will look to ensure they get it done before other clubs jump in.
