Manchester United set asking price for Jadon Sancho

Manchester United will ask for £40-50 million to sell Jadon Sancho in the summer, with Borussia Dortmund unlikely to compete.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United will stick to their valuation of £40-50 million for Jadon Sancho when the summer window opens. The Red Devils are prepared to sell the troubled winger, although their current employers, Borussia Dortmund, are unlikely to sign him on a permanent basis.

Manchester United set Jadon Sancho’s asking price

Jadon Sancho’s stocks plummeted earlier this season following his spat with Erik ten Hag and his subsequent banishment from first-team activities. The 23-year-old did not cave into calls to apologise and put the issue behind them. Instead, he stood his ground, which never moved the Manchester United manager a single bit.

Manchester United saw no other solution than to allow the 23-year-old to leave Old Trafford, as he sealed a return to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the summer. Despite rumours of a buy option being included in the deal, that may not be the case here.

Instead, the Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl’s recent comments suggested they may not compete with clubs to sign the 23-year-old winger. As things stand, Manchester United will reportedly demand £40-50 million from suitors to sell the English attacker.

The demand will certainly not suit Dortmund, who will also have a problem paying his current £250,000-a-week wages. Manchester United are currently paying a chunk of his salary while he plays in Germany, although they would prefer to sell him outright in the summer.

Will Manchester United get their asking price?

Since Sancho stopped playing following that spat, his value has undoubtedly decreased. However, he has made an instant impact at Dortmund. The 23-year-old assisted in each of his first two games, and should he continue improving his numbers, Manchester United could see an increase in his valuation.

Reports suggest that Manchester United offered Sancho and Antony to Saudi clubs in a bid to cut their losses, although the chances of either going there are unlikely. Premier League clubs could dash the 23-year-old if they can manage to convince the Red Devils to reduce his price tag.

Manchester United will likely stick to their asking price if they are selling Sancho within the Premier League. Tottenham had shown an interest, while there might be others in the mix as the summer window opens.
