Fulham to revisit the pursuit of VfB Stuttgart’s 25-year-old forward Silas in summer after January setback.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Fulham are keen on reinforcing their attack with a long-term view and they have their eyes on Silas. The VfB Stuttgart forward has been in sensational form of late and the Cottagers feel he could take charge on their right flank for years to come.
Silas came up the ranks at French club Paris FC before making the move to Germany in the summer of 2019. The 25-year-old right winger has since featured in a total of 120 matches and has contributed towards 52 goals. He has found the back of the net on 33 occasions and has bagged 19 assists.
He has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and has become an important part of the German club’s first team. In the ongoing season, Silas has featured in 19 matches and has contributed towards nine goals despite being restricted to 830 minutes of football.
The DR Congo forward who is currently on international duty still has over two years left on his deal. But, Fulham’s interest in his services suggests that he could be on the move in the near future.
The Cottagers are keen on adding a new right-winger to their ranks. They want to bolster their attack and feel Silas could be a great fit for them. They are currently fighting for survival in the Premier League and signing a new forward in the winter would have helped their cause.
Fulham were interested in signing Silas during the recently concluded transfer window. The English club made a late move on Thursday night to sign the 25-year-old. They were looking to sign him on loan with a buy obligation worth €20 million.
But, the German club were not ready to let him leave and rejected the English club’s offer. They were only interested in a straightforward cash deal and were happy to sanction his departure for €20 million.
Unfortunately, the Cottagers failed to land the Stuttgart winger in January. But, they haven’t given up on him. Fulham are still interested in his services and are pushing to sign him in the next summer transfer window.
