Newcastle United are planning to scupper Tottenham’s plans and hijack a move for promising winger Antonio Nusa this month.

Football Insider states Newcastle United plans to hijack Tottenham’s move for Antonio Musa. The Magpies could make some emergency sales like Miguel Almiron’s and bring in the 18-year-old attacker from Club Brugge as his replacement.

Newcastle United enters Antonio Nusa race?

The report states that the Magpies are now actively looking to sign Antonio Nusa despite Tottenham leading the chase. The Norwegian winger emerged on the radars of multiple clubs following a half-season, where he has proved his worth for Club Brugge and the Norway national team.

He has made four appearances for the latter, scoring once and assisting four times already. He has had a modest record for Club Brugge but has showcased enough to convince others he has a high ceiling. Hence, the likes of Tottenham are engaged in talks with the Belgian side to bring him to the club.

Nusa has also been open to joining Spurs, with the north Londoners making the best offer, which includes sending him back to Club Brugge on loan for the remainder of the campaign. However, Newcastle United’s potential entry could complicate matters for Tottenham and probably even the player regarding his future.

The Magpies are reportedly in talks with Saudi side Al-Shabbab to sell Miguel Almiron, as they probably view the 18-year-old attacker as a replacement for the South American. Irrespective of the Paraguayan’s sale, they are keen on building a young team and may see Nusa as a critical cog for the future. With that, they might end up hijacking Tottenham’s move for the teenager.

Are Newcastle United in a financial crisis?

The potential chase of Nusa may surprise a few Magpies fans, who were led to believe their club are in a financial crisis. Despite Newcastle United being one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, reports are pointing at a potentially massive problem with FFP.

Hence, there are suggestions the Magpies may have to sell some of their notable stars to balance their financial books. Almiron is the latest on that sales list, while there are links between Kieran Tripper and Bayern Munich. The Magpies have reportedly rejected a bid from the Bavarians for the 33-year-old, as more could follow on that case.

Others like Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Alexander Isak are linked with moves away either now or in the summer. Hence, the chances of many significant ourgoings remains a possibility at Newcastle United. They might make some space with their finances to fund a move for Nusa if the report stands correct.
