Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are looking to send their 20-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation Marquinhos out on loan.
According to a report by PL Brasil, Arsenal are exploring potential destinations in Europe to send Marquinhos out on loan. The Gunners have recalled the 20-year-old forward in the ongoing transfer window, and they now seek a new club for him.
Who is Marquinhos?
Marquinhos came up the ranks at Sao Paulo and made a name for himself quite early in his career. His impressive performances in his debut season for their first team resulted in a move to Arsenal in the summer of 2022.
He was expected to slowly make his way into Mikel Arteta’s team. But things have not gone according to plan. He has only made six first-team appearances for the Gunners and has contributed towards two goals.
Marquinhos was out on loan at Norwich City for the second half of last season, and he was then loaned out to FC Nantes for the 2023/24 season. But the loan move has been cut short as Arsenal were not happy with the number of opportunities the 21-year-old got.
He only featured in seven matches and was on the pitch for just 150 minutes during his six-month-long spell at the French club. As a result, he has returned to Arsenal. But unfortunately, there is no place for him in the first team, and they are looking to once again send him out loan.
What Next?
Reports suggested a possibility of a move back to Brazil. But the North London club are focused on finding him a new destination in Europe. They still trust in his potential and feel he could have a future at the club. As a result, they want to ensure he has experience of playing in Europe.
The 20-year-old winger is capable enough to feature on both flanks. He might not have the best of starts to the 2023/24 season. But a move elsewhere will be a fresh start and he can surely try and revive himself. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see which clubs make a move for his services.
