Newcastle United have reached out to AFC Bournemouth regarding Dominic Solanke

Premier League side Newcastle United are interested in Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke in the 2024 January transfer window. According to The Telegraph, the English striker is subject to an enquiry from the Magpies.

At 26, Solanke is in the prime of his career and leads the attack for an exciting Bournemouth side that has impressed under Andoni Iraola. A return of 12 goals and one assist in 19 league games this season has the Cherries fighting for an 11-15 spot rather than battle relegation.

Solanke was a huge prospect while with the Chelsea academy and even showed signs of promise at Liverpool. However, the decision to move to Bournemouth was inspired as it allowed him to garner regular playing time and develop into a top-tier player.

Only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have outscored Solanke in the Premier League this season. It will be no surprise for Newcastle manager Eddie Hopwe, the man who signed Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. He is now keen to repeat the trick on Tyneside.

Adding him to an attack that is led by Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson will certainly improve Newcastle’s goalscoring threat. It will give the Mgapies a massive boost as they look to secure a top-four finish this season.

However, Bournemouth are in no mood to lose their star man this January., The Cherries have already lost Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo to the African Cup of Nations and will be left with little to no bite upfront should Solanke also leave. Doing so will undo much of the good work Iraola has done at the Vitality Stadium this season.

With his contract at the club running until 2027, Bournemouth will have a strong say in negotiations. A move to Newcastle will give Solanke another opportunity to take his career to the top level. The Magpies are far from title challengers but are certainly a team on the rise.

Solanke was never quite a key member of the Liverpool side under Jurgen Klopp but can play a starring role at Newcastle. After all, we have already seen that Howe is a manager who has faith in his abilities.
