Thomas Partey has reportedly informed Arsenal of his desire to leave the club despite reports stating contrasting ideas from his club.

According to Tuttu Mercato Web, Thomas Partey has reportedly informed Arsenal of his desire to leave amid growing interest from elsewhere. The English media has not reported on the same, as the report comes from Italian sources despite the club’s stance on their €50 million star being totally different.

It’s not uncommon for Italian media to apply pressure via player links to some of the Serie A clubs. It has happened in the past, and now it appears there’s a measure to swing some players in the way of Juventus amid the club’s search for midfield options.

Juventus have lost two of their key midfielders already this season to bans, with Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba set to miss the remainder of the campaign at the very least. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remains one of their targets, but the Bioanconeri are reportedly not interested in signing any of their options on a permanent basis.

In fact, they are keen to sign Arsenal’s Thomas Partey on an initial loan deal, something the Gunners are opposed to. The Ghanaian remains an essential player for Mikel Arteta, and the manager may wait again patiently for the midfielder to return from his latest injury setback.

A recent report insisted Arsenal have decided to keep Partey ahead of the January window despite contrasting reports stating otherwise. Other stories had indicated the midfielder had grown disgruntled with the lack of playing time, which, in truth, has been due to his persistent absence through fitness issues.

However, the latest report from Italy detailing Juventus’ midfield targets claimed Partey had informed Arsenal of his desire to leave in January. They also continue stating that the midfielder would like a switch to another Premier League side or even a return to La Liga.

These stories have a dubious hint to it, as Partey remains an integral part of Arteta’s plans for the current season. Indeed, Arsenal could think about selling him next summer, when they might get a viable replacement in the market. Until then, the Ghanaian will remain in north London.
