Inter Milan and Juventus plot a Bosman move for Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara
Liverpool midfield star Thiago Alcantara is attracting interest from Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan as his contract at Anfield runs down ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window.
The Spanish international joined the Reds in 2020 and has been a class act on the field. However, injuries have largely impacted him and the inability to last a full campaign has more or less impacted his contributions to Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
The German is a fan of the player and will want to retain his services. However, there is no talk yet of a contract being on the table. The Reds also dispensed for their ageing players last summer and it will not come as a surprise should Thiago also bid goodbye at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Despite being 32 and given his long-documented health issues, the Spanish ace remains a world-class player. This has seen Inter and Juventus plot a potential move for him when he enters free agency next summer., This is according to the Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Serie A is a far slower and less physically demanding league in comparison to the Premier League and could prove to be Thiago’s salvation. Inter MIlan are currently the top dogs and could do with a player of Thiago’s ability in the midfield.
The Spaniard is an upgrade over Henrikh Mkhitaryan and could prove to be a driving force alongside Hakan Calhanogl and Nicolo Barella in the middle of the park. Having won major trophies in England, Spain and Germany, Italy could prove to be Thiago’s final frontier.
Juventus have also discovered their mojo and are in the Scudetto race this season. The Turin giants have in the past used the Bosman market to great effect and could once again dip their toes into it next summer.
Both Italian sides are expected to be in the thick of things in the coming years. With Liverpool rebuilding, Thiago’s time in red could be coming to an end. While his performances as a Merseysider have been great, the Anfield faithful can do with a player who is available on a regular basis. Unfortunately, Thiago could become the latest casualty of their rebuild.
