Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are closing in on a new deal with their 26-year-old utility man Ben White as talks advance.

According to a report by Football Insider, Arsenal are keen on extending the stay of Ben White at the club. The 26-year-defender has been doing wonders for the Gunners over the years and they are looking to tie him down to a new deal that will see him stay at the club beyond 2026.

After coming through the ranks at Brighton and making quite a big name for himself with impressive performances in the English top flight, the England international joined the Gunners in the summer of 2021 for a reported fee of £50 million.

The 26-year-old was signed to take charge in the heart of the defence but of late he has been used as a right-back on majority of the occasions. White has featured in 15 matches in the ongoing season and all his appearances have come as a full-back.

Last season he featured a full-back and helped Arsenal push Manchester City all the way for the league time. While they failed to win the league, White’s performances did stand out and he has become an integral part of their first team.

The 26-year-old’s contract with the north London club runs out in the summer of 2026 and with just over two years left on his deal, the Gunners are looking to tie him down to a new deal. They have already extended the stay of some of their key players; Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba. And, next on the agenda is the £120,000-a-week star.

Arteta is a huge admirer of the England international and wants him at the club for years to come as the Spanish manager looks to win major titles with the London club. His versatility is of great use to Arteta and the club have already started talks with the 26-year-old over a new deal.

Both parties are keen on pending a new deal and according to the reports, the talks are in advanced stages. If an agreement is reached between both parties the contract will be prepared within the next few months. Extending the stay of the 26-year-old at the club will be a big boost for them as they once again prepare to push for the league title.
