Fulham are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Nigerian striker Gift Orban from KAA Gent next year.
A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Fulham are currently monitoring Gift Orban, and they could look to make a move for him in the coming months. The 21-year-old has a contract with Belgian club KAA Gent until the summer of 2027, and they could demand a premium for him.
Orban has established himself as a key player for the Belgian outfit, scoring seven goals across all competitions this season. The attacker was in exceptional form last year as well, and he scored 20 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.
There is no doubt that he has the attributes to develop into a world-class centre forward, and he could be a key asset for Fulham going forward. Fulham sanctioned the departure of star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic at the start of the season, and they have not been able to replace him adequately so far.
Orban will add pace, flair and goals in the final third. He is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. Someone like Marco Silva could help him improve as a player and fulfil his tremendous potential.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive option for the young striker as well. It would be a major step up in his career, and he would get to showcase his qualities at the highest level. Regular football in England would accelerate his development as well.
Fulham need to add more cutting edge in the final third to finish in the top half consistently and push for European qualification. Someone like Orban would be a solid investment for them in the long term. But it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal across the line.
Fulham certainly have the financial resources to tempt Gent, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. If the 21-year-old African striker manages to impress in the Premier League with Fulham, he will have plenty of opportunities to join elite clubs in the near future. A move to the London club could be the ideal stepping stone for him.
