Fabrizio Romano rules out Arsenal move for Aurelien Tchouameni

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on rumours linking Aurelien Tchouameni to Arsenal, claiming his importance for Real Madrid.

According to Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, there are no truth to the rumours linking Aurelien Tchouameni to Arsenal. The north Londoners had reportedly set sights on the €80 million France international, but the transfer expert claims the midfielder remains an integral part of Real Madrid.

Arsenal fans can get really excited with some transfer rumours involving high-profile players. That includes some persistent links to Aurelien Tchouameni in the past windows and last summer. They did manage to sign Declan Rice for a club-record fee, but there’s still a future space in midfield to fill.

Thomas Partey’s uncertain future has brought back those links to Tchouameni, with Mikel Arteta looking for a new midfielder next summer. The Ghanaian could even depart in January, but there are huge chances of him leaving after the current season ends.

With his age and constant injury problems, Arteta could further refresh the position. Moreover, Jorginho could also leave at the end of his current deal, which will make Arsenal enter the market for a new central or defensive midfielder.

There’s the prospective return of academy graduate Charlie Patino on the cards. The youngster has continued to shin during his loan spell at Swansea, and Arteta might give him a serious thought next summer. However, they might also splash big on another top-draw midfielder, with Tchouameni reportedly seen as a priority for the Gunners.

Fabrizio Romano has now poured cold water on those rumours linking Tchouameni with a move to Arsenal. The transfer expert reckons the 23-year-old La Liga ace remains an integral part of Real Madrid’s plans and has no plans to depart so soon.

Romano said, “Thomas Partey’s recent injury is a blow for Arsenal, and we are perhaps unsurprisingly seeing some stories come up as a result of this, with links to new midfielders who could perhaps replace Partey.”

“Still, my understanding for now is that Arsenal have not decided anything yet about a new midfielder, and there’s nothing to the links with Aurelian Tchouameni – no talks, no proposals, or anything like that.”

“It’s also important to note that Tchouameni loves Real Madrid and they love him, so at the moment there’s nothing at all. He’s a top player and I’m sure he could have a big future at Real Madrid, even if it makes sense that we’re often likely to see links between him and other big clubs in the Premier League.”

To replace Partey, Arsenal have also set sights on Douglas Luiz, but unlikely to make a move during the January window. Hence, any big incoming in central midfield might only happen next summer when the Gunners have a plan in place, something they currently do not have.

Many more names will surface to replace the Ghanaian, and there’s still a possibility to pursue the 23-year-old La Liga ace Tchouameni in the future. For now, those links are deemed unprecedented, and there’s probably no truth to those stories.
