A report from German publication BILD via Sport Witness claims that Everton have already expressed their interest in signing 17-year-old Turkish midfielder Can Uzun, and they are plotting a future move for him.
It will be interesting to see if the Toffees decide to make a move for him during the January transfer window. Meanwhile, Portuguese outfit Benfica are eyeing up a move for the talented young midfielder as well and they have expressed their interest in signing the player as well.
It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs come forward with a concrete proposal to sign the player first. The report claims that the German club are aware of the interest in Uzun because of his performances in the second division of German football and in the DFB-Pokal this season.
It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to cash in on him in the coming months. The club’s sporting director has already revealed that the midfielder has a long-term contract with the club and that they are not worried about his future right now.

It seems that a January move is off the table for now. Everton and Benfica might have to come forward with a substantial amount of money at the end of the season in order to tempt the German outfit into selling the 17-year-old.
Uzun is highly rated in European football, and he has a bright future ahead of him. He could develop into a key player for the two clubs if they managed to secure his services. The 17-year-old will be tempted to join clubs like Everton and Benfica, especially if they can provide him with game-time assurances.
He will not want to sit on the bench at a big club as it would affect his development. The opportunity to play in the Premier League or the Portuguese league can be hard to turn down. Regular football at Everton will help him improve as a footballer and accelerate his development. Meanwhile, Everton seem to be planning ahead already, with Samuel Iling-Junior also on their radar.
