Everton are considering a move for Manchester United ace Harry Maguire in the January transfer window

According to Fichajes, Everton are considering a move for Manchester United star Harry Maguire in the upcoming 2024 January transfer window.

The Toffees have started the season poorly and have won just one out of their first six Premier League games. However, given that other teams have done worse, they find themselves in the 15th spot, a mere point off Chelsea.

The defence continues to be a sore point, and the inability to keep clean sheets could prove to be problematic as the season wears on. This is where former Manchester United captain Harry Maguire comes in.

The Manchester United ace is out of favour at Old Trafford and could be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in. Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are all ahead of him in the pecking order, while Luke Shaw has also of late received the nod ahead of him despite primarily being a left-back.

Maguire can do with a move to resurrect his career and also retain his spot for England in the upcoming European Championships next summer. While Gareth Southgate continues to rate him, it does not aid the defender’s cause to settle for a spot on the bench on a regular basis.

Maguire will not just add quality to the Everton backline but also infuse them with leadership. Having captained Leicester City and Manchester United in the past, the 30-year-old is capable of thriving in a leadership role in the right system.

Strong in the air and a no-nonsense tackler, the Manchester United defender should also fit right into Sean Dyche’s system. Maguire can be the Toffees’ anchor in the defence and make them a hard side to get the better of.

It remains to be seen if a permanent solution can be reached between Everton and Manchester United in January. Even a loan deal could prove to be a good decision for all parties involved. The Toffees have signed several Red Devils over the years and it remains to be seen if Maguire will be the latest name on that list.
