Napoli fail with loan offer to sign Scott McTominay.

Manchester United are reportedly looking to sell Scott McTominay during the January transfer window.

Scott McTominay was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United in the summer. But the Red Devils failed to find a permanent suitor for him who were ready to pay their asking price. A report from Fichajes claims that Newcastle United are now keen on signing the Scotland international.

Newcastle United need to add more quality and depth to their midfield, and McTominay could prove to be a useful acquisition. The Magpies are competing in the UEFA Champions League this season, and they need a deeper squad to do well across multiple competitions stop

The Manchester United midfielder has proven himself in the Premier League over the years, and he could be a useful squad option for Eddie Howe. The opportunity to join a Champions League club will be an attractive option for the player. And if Newcastle can provide him with first-team assurances, there is no reason why he would not consider a move to St. James’ Park.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United should have the finances to get the deal done as well. They are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, and it remains to be seen whether they come forward with a concrete proposal to sign the Scottish international.

Manchester United signed players like Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount during the summer transfer window. McTominay has fallen further down the pecking order. So, staying at Old Trafford does not make sense for him.

It would be ideal for all parties to go separate ways, and Manchester United should look to invest the proceeds from his sale into a new central midfielder. The 26-year-old will add physicality, defensive cover and work rate to the Newcastle midfield. If the Magpies can sign him for a reasonable price, it could be a deal worth doing.

His arrival will not only add quality and depth through the Newcastle midfield, but it would also allow Eddie Howew to rest his key players from time to time and keep the squad fresh. Meanwhile, he is also a target for Bayern Munich, Fulham, and other clubs.
