Arsenal keen on Yves Bissouma

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Arsenal are reportedly considering a surprise move for 27-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma.

A report from Fichajes claims that Arsenal are eyeing a January move for Yves Bissouma. But a transfer seems unlikely in any window, considering Tottenham will unlikely entertain offers for one of their best players, not least from Arsenal.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has established himself as a key player for Tottenham since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. He struggled for regular game time under previous manager Antonio Conte after his €30 million move from Brighton & Hove Albion. But the arrival of the Australian manager has transformed his fortunes.

The Malian international has been one of the first names on the team sheet, and he has been on an impressive run of form with regular football at the North London club. Arsenal could certainly use a quality defensive midfielder like him alongside Declan Rice.

But the Gunners will surely find it difficult to convince their North London rivals. Bissouma is at the peak of his powersm and he could prove to be an upgrade on Thomas Partey, who has been linked with a move away from Arsenal.

Partey has been linked with a number of Italian clubs, including Juventus. And it will be interesting to see if he decides to leave the club during the January transfer window. Arsenal will need to bring in a younger alternative, and Bissouma certainly fits the profile.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder could be tempted to join a big club like Arsenal. But he has no reason to force an exit from Spurs just yet. He will want to showcase his qualities before leaving Tottenham, that too probably for a bigger club.

He had an underwhelming season with Spurs last year and will hope to do well with them this season and help them return to the Champions League. As for Arsenal, they will probably have to pay a substantial amount of money just to bring Tottenham to the negotiating table.

In addition to that, Daniel Levy has a reputation for being a shrewd negotiator. The Tottenham chairman is unlikely to let a key player like Bissouma leave the club midway through the season unless there is an unbelievable offer on the table.
