Manchester United set to sign Sergio Reguilon

Manchester United are closing in on the signatures of 26-year-old Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon.

According to Football Daily, Manchester United are all set to acquire the services of Sergio Reguilon. The Red Devils are in desperate need of a new full-back and they are close to signing the 26-year-old on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Manchester-based club’s sole focus was on signing a new central midfielder before the end of the transfer window. But, over the past few days, a lot has changed and they have been in talks with quite a few clubs as they look to add a new left-back to their ranks.

This comes on the back of an injury to their first-team regular Luke Shaw. The England international has played an important role in their first team since the arrival of Erik ten Hag and he was expected to be the first-choice full-back in the 2023-24 season. But, the England international has suffered a long-term injury and he is likely to miss months of footballing action.

As a result, the Red Devils have been on the lookout for a new full-back. They have already spent the majority of their transfer budget on new signings and haven’t been able to raise enough funds by player sales. As a result, they are looking to sign a left-back on a season-long loan to cover for Shaw’s absence.

Manchester United have shortlisted quite a few players for that role and have been in talks with their representatives as well the clubs. They have been recently linked with Valencia skipper Jose Gaya and have been in talks with Chelsea for Marc Cucurella’s services.

While those talks continue, the report by Football Daily suggests that the Red Devils are closing in on the signatures of Sergio Reguilon who is a part of their transfer target list. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been in talks of late and they are close to reaching an agreement.

The 26-year-old full-back has been given the green signal to travel to Manchester for his medical ahead of the transfer. It will be a straightforward loan deal and if things go according to plan, United should be able to announce his signing quite early on the deadline day.
