Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of 25-year-old FC Lorient defender Montassar Talbi.
According to Josh Hughes, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Montassar Talbi in their ranks before the end of the transfer window. Spurs are looking to further bolster their defence, and they are interested in signing the 25-year-old Ligue 1 defender.
Talbi joined FC Lorient last summer from Rubin Kazan. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move to France. The 25-year-old defender featured in a total of 41 matches last season and was on the pitch for over 3,600 minutes. He was a rock in the heart of the defence and even contributed towards three goals.
The Tunisia international was on fire in the FIFA World Cup 2022. He put in some impressive shifts in the global event and attracted a lot of attention. On the back of his performances in the World Cup and for the Ligue 1 outfit, quite a few top European clubs have their eyes set on Talbi.
While he still has two years left on his contract with Lorient, the 25-year-old could be on the move in the ongoing transfer window. And, Tottenham seems to be a possible destination for the former Kazan defender.
Spurs were not at their best defensively last season. As a result, they are looking to sign multiple defenders to ensure their new boss Ange Postecoglou has multiple options to work with. The London club have already acquired Micky van de Ven in the ongoing window.
But, they are still keen on adding another defender to the mix, and Talbi is one of the names on their transfer target list. The 25-year-old’s impressive performances have caught the eye of people at Spurs and they believe he could be a great fit for the club. They are expected to make moves to sign him in the near future.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are also looking to offload Eric Dier. The England international has been an important player for the North London club, and he played an integral role last season. But, his performances have gone downhill of late, and as a result, they are ready to cash in on him.
