Manchester United are interested in signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer, with the player valued at £60 million.
A report from Daily Mail claims that Everton could demand a fee of around £60 million for Amadou Onana. The 21-year-old Belgian internataional is a target for Manchester United this summer, with the Red Devils considering a bit-part deal.
Apparently, Everton value the player at a similar fee to that of Romeo Lavia from Southampton. The Saints have been demanding £60 million for the Belgian, with Liverpool agreeing a fee in the region. So Everton want a similar fee for Onana as well.
The report adds that Manchester United could include players as a part of the deal because of Everton’s high valuation of the midfielder. The Red Devils are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements especially after the departure of Fred. They could look to sell Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay in the next few days as well.
Meanwhile, Onana has proven to be a quality performer for Everton, and he will add physicality and defensive steel to the Manchester United midfield. The Toffees signed him for a fee of around £33 million. And the 21-year-old Belgian would be the ideal partner for Casemiro at the heart of Manchester United’s midfield this season if the Red Devils can get a deal across the line.
Manchester United will be hoping to compete for the league title and win trophies this season. They will have to plug the gaps in their squad before the transfer window closes. Apparently, Manchester United are linked with Morocco international midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as well, and the 26-year-old is valued at £25 million.
There is no doubt that he would be a cheaper alternative to Onana, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The 21-year-old Everton midfielder is likely to be tempted to join Manchester United if there is a concrete proposal on the table.
The Red Devils are working within financial restrictions and they will have to get rid of some of their unwanted players in order to sign the 21-year-old midfielder. The 21-year-old is highly rated around Europe and he has a big future ahead of him.

Working under a coach like Erik ten Hag could help him develop further and fulfil his tremendous potential in the coming seasons. Although the £60 million asking price might seem like a premium right now, Onana has the potential to justify the investment in the long run.
