Everton are reportedly in advanced talks with Serie A outfit Udinese over a deal to sign striker Beto as they look to bolster new boss Sean Dyche’s squad before the window slams shut.
According to Football Insider, Everton are in advanced talks with Serie A club Udinese over a loan with an obligation to buy a deal for Portuguese striker Beto.
It is imperative that Everton sign a brand new striker before the end of the summer transfer window, or else their goalscoring woes would continue to haunt the club in the upcoming. They desperately need a new striker, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues and the lack of goal threat by Neal Maupay have left them in dire straits, while young Ellis Simms has already been sold to Coventry.
As such, the Toffees have snapped up 19-year-old starlet Youssef Chermiti from Sporting CP in a deal worth up to £15 million, but that’s one for the future as they remain in the market for more experienced forwards, with the likes of Southampton forward Che Adams, PSG’s Hugo Ekitike, and Udinese’s Beto all linked with moves to Goodison Park in recent weeks.
Beto, for one, was one of the Toffees’ top targets in the winter transfer window earlier this year and even tabled a £21.9 million last-gasp bid before the deadline, but Udinese rejected the Goodison Park outfit’s offer out of hand as it fell well short of their price tag.

Now, though, there is a feeling that it will be difficult for the Serie A outfit to hold onto the Portuguese striker beyond this summer, and they will be open to selling Beto for the right price.
The 25-year-old scored ten goals in 30 Serie A games last season, hitting double figures for the second successive season in the Italian top flight. And his goals have been crucial in Udinese’s battle to avoid relegation to Serie B. In fact, they have helped keep his side comfortably in mid-table in both seasons.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Beto is a well-built striker and could add another dimension to Toffees’ attack. He is physically strong and can be aerially dominant, but he has also showcased the ability to progress and dribble with the ball at his feet and can be very useful in Dyche’s direct, counter-attacking system.
The proposed loan-to-buy deal will also enable the Merseyside outfit to allocate funds in the other areas of need in their squad this summer, with Dyche looking to bring in several signings to bolster his options at the back as well as out-wide.
