Bayern Munich have made a blockbuster offer in excess of €100 million for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

According to ESPN, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have received an offer in excess of €100 million for striker Harry Kane from Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions have been after a new striker this summer, and Kane appears to be the go-to man. Thomas Tuchel’s side have already had two bids rejected for the English skipper. But that has not stopped them from tabling a third.

The latest offer is a club record bid of €100 million guaranteed with a further €20 million in bonuses. Given that Kane’s contract expires at Spurs next summer, Daniel Levy is better off accepting the offer and reinvesting it back into the playing squad.

The 30-year-old is one of the finest number nines in world football and has shown both consistency and dynamism when on the field. He is the record goalscorer for both Tottenham and England and is some years off from hanging up his boots.

However, despite breaking several individual records, Kane is yet to win a single trophy at the senior level. Tottenham are far from challengers next season. And with time running out, it makes sense for him to write a new chapter in the Bundesliga.

Thomas Tuchel’s men are perennial winners and are always expected to challenge for domestic and European honours. They lack a serial goalscorer since the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, and there are few better names in world football than Kane to fill that void.

As things stand, Tottenham have until Friday midnight to make their decision. With the season fast approaching, it will be curious to see if Daniel Levy will roll the dice and take his chances. After all, Kane could very well walk away for free next year if he fails to pen an extension.

The English skipper does not intend to sign a new contract, more or less forcing Tottenham’s hand in the matter. Bayern have also threatened to move on to other targets should they fail to get a clear answer from Spurs by today’s deadline.

It could all come down to who blinks first in this standoff. Despite the promising additions made this summer, Tottenham without Kane will lack much of the goal-scoring prowess they displayed over the last few seasons.
