Tottenham ready to make move for Perr Schuurs

Tottenham close to securing priority option for future Johnny Cardoso deal.

Tottenham Hotspur could make a summer move for Torino star Atalanta Perr Schuurs

According to DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando on Twitter, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur could make a bid for Torino star Perr Schuurs in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Dutchman joined the Serie A side from Ajax Amsterdam last summer after their star defender Gleison Bremer moved to Juventus. Schuurs has thrived at Torino and is today one of the rising stars in the Italian top flight.

At 23, the centre-back is a long-term investment and can future-proof a major position in the Tottenham roster. A no-nonsense tackler with technical proficiency on the ball, Schuurs is a modern-day defender who has taken to the game like a fish to water.

It is no secret that Tottenham are in the market for a centre-back. Ange Postecoglou’s side have already been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Edmond Tapsoba and VfL Wolfsburg’s Micky Van de Ven. But as of yet, neither player has joined the North London club.

It was revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Tottenham and Wolfsburg are ironing out the final details for Van de Ven. Even if the Dutch star does move to Tottenham, the club could do with another addition such as Schuurs.

As things stand, Crystal Palace have already agreed to personal terms with Schuurs while Liverpool have also been touted as a potential destination. Tottenham have now entered the ring and are in touch with both Torino and the player’s representatives.

With the 2023/24 season arriving fast, time is running out for Spurs to reinforce their backline. Schuurs, for his part, is yet to put in a transfer request and is fully focused on the new season with Torino. If anything, this shows his commitment to the cause.

The Italians are seeking a transfer fee in the range of €35 million and €40 million, a price range that has proven to be problematic for Palace. Tottenham are well capable of matching the asking price and will do well to take a punt at securing the Torino star.

Schuurs is a player with huge potential and could develop into one of the finest centre-backs in Europe in the years to come. Whether that will be in Tottenham colours remains to be seen.
