Alejo Veliz set to join Tottenham

Tottenham are reportedly all set to complete the signing of 19-year-old Rosario Central striker Alejo Veliz this summer.

Alejo Veliz will undertake a medical with Tottenham in the coming days. As per Fabrizio Romano, Spurs will pay around €15 million plus add-ons to sign the talented young forward from Rosario Central.

Veliz has 11 goals across all competitions, and he could prove to be a solid, long-term investment for Tottenham. The North London outfit need to start planning for the future, and signing a talented young attacker could prove to be a wise decision. Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club and Son Heung-min was quite underwhelming last season.

Brazilian international Richarlison, who joined the club last summer, failed to hit the ground running as well. Tottenham needed to invest in a quality attacker, and Veliz will fancy his chances of holding down a regular starting spot at the London club next season.

The 19-year-old might need some time to adapt to English football, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. Apparently, other clubs were keen on signing the attacker as well. But Tottenham have done well to agree on a long-term deal with him.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has an impressive record of nurturing talented young players. And he could help the 19-year-old develop with regular game-time and fulfil his potential at the North London club.

Having said that, Spurs might need to sign an established striker this summer if Harry Kane ends up leaving the club. He has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich recently and the German outfit are hoping to seal his signature.

Kane is in the final year of his contract. So Tottenham are under pressure to cash in on him. His suitors will look to take advantage of the situation and sign him for a reasonable price this summer.

As for Veliz, the 19-year-old Argentine striker will look to hit the ground running in the Premier League and prove his quality in Europe. The opportunity to join a Premier League club will be an exciting option for him, and he will look to make his mark in English football.
